Hey,

Can anyone recommend a solicitor to help me with my case?

I didn't properly register the deposit of £525 and my previous tenant is claiming damages of twice the tenancy of £3150.

Any recommendations of a solicitor who could help take my case on?

You had two distinct tenancies and never protected the Deposit, therefore the ex-Tenant is claiming 2 x 3 x £525 = £3,150?

You don't need a Solicitor. Start to engage in good faith negotiations with your ex-Tenant. You aren't - surely? - claiming there are circumstances where you wouldn't be due a penalty, I assume? If you assume you will be due a penalty, then it's simple a matter of scale and how you can both reach a number you might accept. A Court is not likely to find in favour of 3x (what the ex-Tenant) is claiming, unless you're a rogue Landlord, with a bad track record, or something... so something more modest is likely... they might be operating under a misconception here. So you may want to negotiate more towards the 1x boundary.

Can you handle that?

No point throwing good money after bad... a Solicitor cannot save you from this if you agree you never protected the Deposit... if you did, then you'll already be in possession of evidence to debunk the claim, right?
