Hi all,
My tenant told me he found a half eaten protein bar and he thinks it was a mouse.
What's the best way to deal with that - apart from pest control?
I did a quick search myself and found that I can put expandable foam and wire mesh in any entry points and also poison in any potential affected areas.

Anyone having any tips on how to deal with such an issue?

Thanks very much.

Well good news and bad...

If there is a mouse infestation it won't be just one and there is a possibility of a nest. The most reliable way of telling will be the presence of droppings and mice can be a nightmare to get rid of as they can enter through holes as small as a pencil. Known entry points can also include air bricks or around any place where pipes come into the property.

From reading your other posts I get the feeling your tenant is using this as a means of putting you on the back foot and putting pressure on you (have you seen the protein bar, have you seen any evidence of mice?). However if your tenant at any point has good reason to say the property is unfit to live in, it is your responsibility to sort it out and worst case scenario is that you will have to pay to accommodate them elsewhere until it is dealt with; so I suggest you are seen to deal with it seriously and professionally. Get an expert in and if there is evidence of vermin let them deal with it. If not let they can give you a report stating that (which will probably be the case).

Good luck
