Hello I'm looking to rent a property in Leeds while on maternity leave for
6-12 months it would be me and my baby living there alone. Would a future
Landlord even bother renting to me? With my finances
I will recieve £140 maternity allowance
Working tax credit £104
Child tax credit £64
Child benefit £20.70
This is weekly.
Also how would i go about finding a property would it be best for me to wait until September to look
As I can't imagine it would be any use looking now.

£328 per week is more than £1,200 per month... you should easily be able to rent a property in Leeds for £500. How would you go about finding a property? Go into Agents, get yourself on Rightmove, look in newspapers... why do you imagine it's not worth looking now?

I would definitely start looking now, just so that you are familiar with the areas you can afford to budget for.  One or two areas in Leeds which you can afford, I can assure you would want to avoid :-)   

Trawl the net and get some prices and regions in mind.
