Hi

I was in quite a desperate situation for housing and I still am now but now I know my rights a little more
However my landlord has made me pay me three months rent in advance and also one month due to my rent being paid by universal credit and my local councils housing team

He's still not given me my key

Is the tenancy void because of this? who is in the stronger position legally there's a lot of stuff on the tenancy agreement but does the fact that I know what he's does is illegal give me leverage? and could i negotiate my money back?
Thanks

No the tenancy isn't void. The first thing to address is whether you're being conned with no property at all. The payment is secondary.

Yes I do believe the property exists I've visited it twice but he hasn't given me my key

Id like to just back out of this contract now
I believe the fact that he took payment from me and did not give me a key and is delaying giving me the key however still expects me to pay due to processes out of my control like Universal Credit and my local councils housing team is illegal and I have some leverage to try and get out of the this tenancy agreement

?

Are you sure the property is his or that he has consent to let it? Where did you see it advertised? Lots of scams out there.
