Hi, I'm new to here, so sorry if it's in the wrong place etc.

Anyway, my situation is I'm 18 and I need a move out of my home due to family reasons and I want to find somewhere quiet and decent. I'm entitled to 1 bedroom rate, there are two reasons that this can be, a. that I'm on DLA and 2. that I'm a care leaver. Anyway, my issue is I come under one of those categories and it's very personal to me, and I can actually get a letter from the council and PROVE my entitlement, but when I explain this to the landlords, they blow me out.

I have tried looking for places in Chester, Southport and Llandudno in the newspapers, on Gumtree and Vivastreet. An agency is not an option for me as how can an 18 year old pass a credit check?! Anyway, after being blown out by everybody, I'm really not sure what to do! I think it's really unfair that I get judged on my age and being on benefits. I'm not a job seeker, I'm on the sick due to my asperger's and depression. Whilst I understand that a lot of 18 year olds are little idiots, I am not like that and I'm pretty quiet and I never have parties or land myself into trouble. I want somewhere to live, not a student-esque pad!

Another issue is the places that take LHA (aka dss) want a deposit AND rent in advance. I would be perfectly happy to cough up around £400, but £800 is a little bit outrageous considering my grandparents (and potential guarantors) would be paying, considering I don't have the time to save up the deposit, unless I want to go into a homeless unit!

Sorry for ranting, but does anybody know what to do?

Thanks
