Hello everyone

I've been paying rent 4 weekly for about 3 years now, but I'd like to change it to monthly. (obviously the rent would be higher a bit)
It would be easier for me to pay on the same date every month, that way I could budget a bit better.
My question is is this something that requires a new tenancy agreement or is it possible to just agree in writing?
If you would be the landlord would you mind changing it to monthly?
Thank you

Not at all.I have made changes sometimes to fit around new jobs etc.I always go onto periodic tenancies,so arrange things by letter/email. If you have been a reliable tenant for 3 years your landlord should be flexible.

Monthly, yes... but obviously not in total, something like:

(([4 weekly rent] x 13) / 365) == rent per day == (([monthly rent] x 12) / 365).

i.e.

((£500.00 x 13) / 365) == £17.80 == (£541.66 x 12) / 365)... maybe go to £541.67 so the Landlord can be sure they're not losing-out. Every penny counts.

This sounds like more than just a change of payment dates/amounts, it could be a change to the period of the tenancy, (depending on the wording of the agreement). If so it could create issues later if one of you needs to serve notice. I have never used (or even seen recommended) the use of Gov't Form 1 for a change to the terms of an AST, but it might be appropriate in this case. Anyone have any experience?
