Hi guys.

2 of my former housemates haven't received their deposit back after 3 months that they left. The agency replied them that it is due to the covid19 pandemic and that they will give their deposit back. I'm leaving in 2 months and I really need the deposit's money.
What could I do to receive my deposit back within 1 month ? Could I not pay the last month as I already know that I will struggle to get my deposit back ?

I'm renting just a room.

tell the agent / lanlord you will raise a dispute directly with the deposit agency. Request the details of that deposit being placed with one of the registered deposit agencies.

Should help shufty them along.

Covid nothing to do with an outgoing tenant not getting their deposit.

There's a difference between what you're allowed to do contractually and whether there will be any (civil) legal consequence, so long as you don't care about future references from the landlord/agent.
