Ok we have done the watch the environment thing to suss when a place is up and coming, this would be with local Council cash injections, we have all seen um.
But another good way is to see what shops are coming to an area. Any thougths.

I say Starbucks

Theire are others but you guys need a go as well

Gotta keep an eye on the cars and car show rooms too.

Definitely M&S and Topshop .......... my town has nada.

M&S and Topshop,
Are these the things to look for in an area that is becoming trendy.  The petrol services on the A34 have just become a M&S LOL.

Was thinking more along the lines of what replaces the local kebab shop and dirty fingers Ken sweet shop.

Star bucks, waitrose, trendy bars (no clubs)

Now thats what im talking abooot, good call son, good call.
What about banks !

Worry if the only one there is Northern Rock?
