I prefer modern and sleek. Victorian style houses ain't for me, i'm too pimp for all that culture :)

Fionalouisa

Oh I prefer the whole contemporary and clean lines look ... but I love the contrast if has with the granduer of the Victorian period. Its a really nice contrast.

I'd love to extend my house with a glass extension.... ( not the one I have now ... seeing as it Art pissing Deco )

I could carry on all day.

I even have dreams about my fantasy house ! haha

Love that second house.

Looking at nice houses is just too painful some times!

propertyfag

I wrote a special article for you today, Fifi.

"Working with friends and family"

Fionalouisa

So compared to ideal house .... what is your house like that you live in ?

Are you half way there design wise ... or is it just a house to live in ?

Aww thanks Faggie  ;D (Please tell me your pissing name ). Where is it ?

propertyfag

I don't like talking about the house I live in, for various reasons...

I'll publish it in a bit, don't worry :)

So, looks like England are out for Euro 2009; not that I care or anything.

Fionalouisa

I didnt even know we were in the Euro 2009 .

I didnt mean say what kind of house it is etc ... just is it small , big , really modern etc do you like it ... do you not like it

propertyfag

Detached, 6 bedroom, double garage. It's nice. It has modern rooms but also some traditional rooms.

Well, we never qualified for Euro 2009 because we lost tonight.

Fionalouisa

Sounds big . Do you like it ?

propertyfag

Yeah, but it's not my ideal home.

propertyfag

So what about your home? Tell me about it...

Fionalouisa

I like my house from the front ... its quite traditonal with two lawns either side of the drive and its in a nice area ... except they ( the stupid council) chopped down the two lovely blossom trees outside of my house last year :(

Its half and half modern but tradtional ... quite laura ashley-ish .

I dont like my back garden though .... its on two levels and its a triangle.

Fionalouisa

Its Very similar to that house ... the bay windows .. the door the roof etc but minus the ugly garage ... mine doesnt have a door and its set back alot more .

propertyfag

That's a nice house. You can build a glass hut on top of the garage :)

Fionalouisa

haha or not ...
Nice house but I do want to sell in eventually lol when I can be bothered .

But for the time being its nice :)

I'd like to make the garden really modern and industrial-ish because of the odd shape ... but the area is very family-ish so it wouldnt pay off.

I have got my eye on two places over the road from me, theya re at ceiling price but would be a good un i think,
The window in the loft has been out for a year on one of um, so i am thinking it needs a refurb, come on put it on the market again people,
I am spending to much time looking at houses at the mo.
The house in pimp my house, by the way, the extention is defo out of regs and to buy would be a nightmare of extra insurances and money.
The inside of the extention needs to be completley ripped out and done again, infact the whole house needs some TLC
So i am in deep thoughts about it.

propertyfag

Is it a good time to buy, Badgey?

Badger

Even better Jan next year

vwilson

I reckon he's right.

And if he's after a three bed retreat in Cornwall I know just the place.

I don't feel confident buying right now, even though I really want to.

I think my best bet would be going to an auction.

vwilson

Possibly

Here's something you might want to investigate. Sometimes people who hold the lease of a property will sell the leasehold, I think there's a special name for it. I saw details of some that had been auctioned but the numbers didn't stack up - there must be more to it than meets the eye. Definitely worth a bit of research.

It interested me because the investment is much much lower than buying property, but you are still getting an income (ground rent) and in theory you still own the place - so if someone passes away or the lease runs out you get some dough.

Can't argue with that, but it warrants a full ROI type analysis

Good rental in cornwall, to dudes and dudessess with floatation devices ! who use them to walk on water.
Ok if ya dont mind finding the odd spliff behind the sofa

vwilson

Yeah, I think we might have to resort to that in the end. Out of season at the moment, though.

There's three of us that have to agree everything and then three sets of solicitors too, who all like to take their chunk. Trying to sort out a rental arrangement with those guys involved would get expensive fast. I already owe my dude over £10K for the work he's done to date.

(which of course I can't pay until we sell the F****** house)

What you going to do with the money, V? Clear some of your mortgage, invest or both?

vwilson

Clear VISA debt and student loan, get a bit of money to one side for emergencies and probably put the rest down as capital on my flat until I come up with a more adventurous plan. Am thinking of moving abroad for a year out or something so it'd be handy to get a wadge of money in there to drop the payments right down on a BTL mortgage, though I've not idea what the tax implications would be yet.

Also, if you have a BTL mortgage but you live in the house yourself is that a problem? Am guessing not 'cause usually they're more expensive, but its always worth checking.

Jump out the rat race for a while, sounds cool

It shouldn't be a problem, but you should inform your lender when you're occupying the property.
