I like property

« on: July 31, 2016, 03:58:39 PM »

I have put an offer on the flat and have the survey done on the flat. My mortgage also got approved but yesterday I met the tenants who are already living there. They are vacating the property because there are bedbugs in the property. Seller had got the spray done once till now but it did not have any impact.

I am now bit hesitant to to go ahead with buying the property. I would be getting the property all cleared up and will get the professional pest controller before i will give on rent but  i am not sure if that will be lifelong solution. As the flat is on 5th floor so not sure if the current tenants brought those bedbugs or they came from other adjacent flats.

Any advice would be very helpful.

I'd be hesitant with any problem.

There are plenty of properties to buy that don't have issues. If you're getting an amazing deal, then you may stick with it. If not, then use that to your advantage.

I have paid for a survey on a property and then walked away for other reasons... that's why you did it, so you didn't make an expensive mistake. Some people will often think - I've spent money on the survey, I'm committed now, I can't back out.

You certainly can.

Or make it a condition of sale that the problem is guaranteed eradicated - probably an impossibility, but may get the vendor thinking about things a bit more.
