My Dad said to me 20 yrs ago, always if you can buy a house that is on high ground, oddly enough i did with all houses i have bought.  With the recent problem we have had in the UK with flooding etc where these wise words from a wise man after all !.
Even after the searches are done you can not be to sure if in adverse situations with the rain that you may get flooded, is it worth taking out extra insurance just in case, ?.
I do feel really sorry for the peeps that are flooded out, it must be a nightmare getting things cleaned and replaced after such an event.

Hey badgey,

Did you intentionally buy property on high grounds, or was that just how it turned out by fate?

yeah, it's real sad about all the problems that people have been having with the floods...

My dad always said to buy on higher ground, so maybe did it without thinking, been thinking about it quite a bit today, best places to buy would be old social housing as the local council would never build there houses on a flood plain. interesting ! or a i wrong just a thought

I most definitely agree, one needs to consider climate and future weather related potential disasters when buying. I use to live in south carolina, we were hit by so many storms my God. We contemplated living near the beach however im so glad we didn't go through with it, as so many ppl have suffered a great deal with their beach homes etc.

Very good point Badger :D
