Okay, so its the weekend and you get an urgent call that the front door lock is not working. We call around promptly to ascertain it needs a locksmith for a minor adjustment . We will not attempt it, as it is a five bar locking system newly fitted by said locksmith 1.5 years ago.  We would expect the warranty on the product to last many years, as our previous one did.  As the agent arranged fitting originally and payment approx two days before we signed contract, we new they would have the receipt. WRONG!. They approached the locksmith and were told to tell us as we are in close proximity to the sea, there would be no warranty.
We are Not that close to the sea, and the door is an INTERIOR one, inside a closed porch. Further we have Never had a problem with salt in 20 plus years.
Latest email from agent; With regards to the receipt; as the replacement was carried out by the Estate Agent when they were titled [& Son Ltd], and as this was a former company..., IF a receipt was retained, by their predecessors, it has been archived.The only active file they have is for the current Tenancy, and there is nothing in there.

Well our contract is with the Agent & Son Ltd , as was, so where does that leave us??.

I also have the invoice from when the payment was made to the locksmith, and it also is documented in our Annual Statement from the Agent MINUS & Son ltd, dated 11/01/2020

Our thinking is we may have to go to the lock Manufacturer; with or without receipt.

Thoughts please.
