Hi Everyone,
I am new to this site and I would like to ask a question.
We were renting a property in 2013, and in 2014 this property was purchased for us to live in, rent free.
The property was purchased by the trustees, my wife is a beneficiary as mentioned in a life assurance policy, the trustees  used the funds to buy the property that we were paying rent for..
We have just found out that the property was purchased with a vacant possession status..
The seller of the property is also a beneficiary of a trust, he is the primary beneficiary.. he is a greedy man indeed...
We were not asked to move out, we were just told that the house was bought for us to live in rent free..
Since vacant possession was not abided to, what is the legal status of the property.. the property was bought with cash..
Thanks in advance

While technically the property wasn't vacant, no one has suffered as a consequence, so I'd imagine it's academic a decade later.

But that's a very specific legal question and you should speak to a solicitor to get an answer because they'll want to see all of the documentation.

Has something happened recently to make you worry about this? I cannot see that anything would affect your rights to live there,  especially after all this time.  If it would set your mind at rest do as JPK suggests,  this is not something that a  landlord forum could confirm for you. You need to speak to a solicitor.
