Hi we have recently purchased a 2 bed terraced house to let. Our second one this year .It had belonged to an elderly lady & although a little dated in very good condition. However it  had no central heating the 2 downstairs rooms both have gas fires one is a small open hearth type & one is wall mounted. They are both in very good condition .We have had full central heating put in but do we keep the gas fires or remove them ??
Thankyou

Hello Jendoo.I think I would have the fires removed.

I'd get rid of them. Other than during a power cut, they don't add anything (as long as the central heating system is sufficient on its own), they're a waste of space and they're just one more thing to maintain and/or repair/replace when they go wrong. There may be prospective tenants out there who specifically like a gas fire and will pay more rent as a result ... but I'd say the chances are slim!
