I HAVE A TENANT WHO IS ON DSS WHO IS WORKING WHILST CLAIMING.  I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT DSS CAN COME BACK AND INSIST i PAY BACK ALL THE RENT

Jeremy

Hello Elaine Harvie,

My limited experience tells me:

1 - People can both work and receive DSS Housing benefit, especialy if their wage is not big and / or have lots of commitments (children or disabled dependents, for example);

2 - If you have reasonable suspicions then you must report that to the DSS office.  The "clawback" clause does exist, but will not be used if you have provided information.

Hope this helps.

Its simple.
If your being paid directly by the DSS then they will claw it back from you.
If they pay the T and then he/she passes it on to you then your home and dry and they can not claim it from you not matter what they say.

Ive had this situation several times and the outcome has alway been one of the above.

Report them and report them now.
