Fire door closers question

On checking our maisonette rental recently I noticed that, at some point, the fire door 'closer' has been removed - not sure when or which tenant did this.  It was on the door between the kitchen and the stair case so not compliant with fire regs.  Theres no sign of the item so I need to replace it.  Could you knowledgeable people tell me if there is a 'Standard' that I should be looking to install or are they all the same.  My lovely husband used to know all about this stuff but he has young onset Alzheimers disease so I am on a bit of a  steep learning curve.

Many thanks

Sorry to hear about your husband and the consequent steep learning curve.

Assuming you mean a self closer that fits at the top of the door, then I fitted one of these: https://www.wickes.co.uk/4FireDoors-Overhead-Door-Closer---Silver-Size-3/p/116678

It wasn't too difficult to do, once I had worked out which side of the supplied paper fixing template I had to use (depends whether you are fitting to the pull side or the push side of the door).

The closer worked perfectly. You can adjust the rate of closing of the door from very fast to a much friendlier slow speed.

Thats just what I needed - thanks so much.  I will get onto it right away.  I love this site!!
