Hi all

I had a property handed back to me a while ago and I have been refurbishing it.

The works are complete and I have lined up a tenant (family friend ) who will be moving in in a couple of months.

I am aware that I need to get the insurance updated to 'unoccupied' and talking to my current issuer to do this I have to meet loads of conditions which are not convenient as I intend to use the property few times and will be popping over there weekly to check etc.  Conditions such as draining the water system, turning on the electric, gas and water at the mains.  Changing the locks, blocking the letter box... the list does go on.  the house is a terraced house in a quiet area...no passing traffic.

I just wondered if there was a simple insurance I could get and if anyone had any recommendations or comments.

Many thanks for your support and time taken to read this.

Kind regards

Mike

Quite honestly,  personally I would not bother. If you turn off the water and power each time you depart, and go in regularly,  the chances are that it will be ok. I am not sure why you would have to change the locks?

One risk I would be much more worried about is letting to a family friend!
