Garden waste-landlord or tenants responsibility?

Hi there

I've received an email from my tenants letting me know they've done some gardening and asking me to take away the bags of garden waste to the council tip for them as they don't have a car.  I want to tell them that as their contract states that garden maintenance is their responsibility, it naturally follows that its their responsibility to dispose of the waste in the proper way too (although the contract doesn't specifically state this).

However, our council will no longer let you dump garden waste in the wheely bins and instead you have to register for their garden waste fortnightly collection service with an annual fee of £35. I can't see my tenants going for this, especially as they only tidy the garden once in a blue moon!

So, do I put on my bin man hat and go round and collect the waste for them or inform them nicely that it's their responsibility to find a way to dispose of it?  I'd be willing to take it away this once as I need to collect something else from the garden soon anyway. But what about future occasions?

Advice/opinions please!

Thanks,

Sabs
