Hi guys,
Sorry to ask a silly Q, but better to check!
Tenant's have been on periodic tenancy for some time following expiry of 6month AST. They have now asked for new 6 month AST and I'm happy to offer.
Can I just use the same AST template as before and change the date of commencment to a future date we agree to commence the 6 months from? As simple as that? Do we ignore the original AST and not make reference to it in the new AST?
What about the inventory, just a reprint?

Thanks

Yeah, as long the contracts are up to date, you can just reprint them and use them again :)

If you issue a new AST you need to treat it as such. It can be identical to the first one with different dates but you have to go through the same form filling as before including signatures/dates/witnesses, etc.  Any inventory needs to re-done unless both tennant and landlord are in agreement that the previous inventory still holds true in which case you both just sign /date the previous copies (one each).
