Hi, I help my daughter with the rental of her property, I sort out the lease, credit checks etc and liased with the tenants. The tenants have given notice to leave and I have given notice to inspect the property. The tenant has now contacted my daughter and said she will no longer deal with me as I am not the landlord, she has also said she is not happy with me attending the inspection despite it being quoted in the letter. Any advice would be greatfully received, my daughter suffers ill health and anxiety which is why I try and help her as much as possible. I have had no contact with the tenant since April until today so I'm not sure what the problem is.

It is quite simply not up to the tenant to decide who they will or won't deal with.You have effectively been acting as your daughter's agent,so the situation is just the same.If there has been no complaint about your attitude in the past,I can only suspect that they think your daughter will be a softer touch when it comes to checking for any damage etc.to be taken from the deposit.Tell them when you will be calling,and if they don't want to deal with you,say you are happy to arrange for a time when they will be out.Assume you took an inventory and photos when they signed up,so have them to hand when you go.

Yes, I have all correspondence and relevant inventory and yes I also think they think my daughter will be more of a push over, just wasn't sure how we stood legally. They have been notified that I will be attending on Saturday so we will see if I get let in. There has been no other issues and I have all the messages sent front the start proving she has dealt with me from the off.

heavykarma is correct. The Tenant doesn't dictate that they won't deal with anyone but the Landlord. The Landlord could employ a Check-Out Clerk... the Tenant couldn't refuse to deal... well, they could... but that would be cutting their nose off to spite their face. Who knows what's going in their minds, but it seems like there's some angst you might be unaware of?
