my tenant says were harassing him

 :o hi all
we have a btl property that we rent to unfortunatly a family member. we have had a masive fallout,and things will not be resolved. my hubby and i sent this person a letter yesterday to outline his contract and to request acsess,,as hes changed the locks!  for him to allow us to inspect the house,as we know he has had building works done,and to have him give us a key.

as we sent him an email last week saying the same,,and now a recorded letter today,we have had information he is going to have us for harassing him and his children.

he has not only changed the locks .but put up cctv and has said if we go near the house he will use that too as us harassing him.

any advice would be very very welcome,we stated in the letter we wish to inspect the house in august and we will notify him by letter 24 hours in advance.he has emaild back saying under no circomstances must we go to the property untill he has tken legal advice.
does anyone have any advice for us please.

He sounds like an absolute nutcase. Is he still paying rent?

"It is the tenant's right not to be disturbed or harassed while living in the property. Landlords are not entitled to enter the tenant's living area without permission as they have the right to use the property as their home.

Where necessary, landlords can get access to inspect the condition of the property. A convenient time should be agreed with the tenant, or landlords may write to the tenant giving at least 24 hours' notice.

The tenant should not unreasonably withhold access, and if he or she does, the landlord can apply to the county court for an injunction."

Is there something in your AST which mentioned regular inspections?

he has just missed one months rent payment.  so i hope he misses another so we can issue a section 8

were not harrasing him,,just trying to go inspect as we know he has had building work done and it need us to check it,,but he has said absolutly NO.

his contract does say he has to allow us accsess to the property when necessary,and we have told him we wil be inspectin in August  with of course 24 hours notice,,but he says thats harassing him.

hes lost the blood plot.
