is a managing agent responsible for contacting tenants before a tenancy expires - ie in the case of a 6 month fixed term, should the managing agent find out whether tenant intends to stay in the property or will leave at the end of the term?

presumably a tenant can move out at the end of the fixed term without giving any notice. does it follow that the agent should anticipate the likelihood of this, thus being in a position to begin marketing the property etc

Just seen your post.  An Agent should know!  Have you not asked them directly?  A good Agent will communicate well with you and also seek to ensure you have zero / minimal void.  Sounds like you are having some problems with that though.  Ever considered going it alone?  Anyway, let me know how it all goes and what their response is.
