So it will not be possible for the house to be occupied whilst works are carried out.  Do I need to inform the Council before I give them notice; as they will have to house them.

Thank you.

***Whoops - a whole paragraph has disappeared.  Should say electric work & damp work must be done on house - so tenants can't stay there.

Hippogriff

Why aren't you responsible for housing the Tenants? Do you really mean you're bringing the tenancy to an end, never to recommence? In that case you don't inform the Council. They may.

Hi Hippogriff.

I don't want them to stay there any longer, as they appear to have been neglecting the house (my electrician says it's in a filthy state + they are behind with rent).  so I will give them notice to quit..

IF I did want them to return to the house after works are done: Are you saying I would have to find them somewhere to live?  I don't have any vacant houses!

Thank you for your time.

Hippogriff

If you link them not staying in the property to works then you have to house them. Unless they agree to just disappearing without any fuss... maybe they're gullible?

Why aren't you just doing a simple run-of-the-mill eviction? One that is not linked to anything else? Any interaction between Tenant and Council is then nothing to do with you.

Ok, thanks Hippogriff.... I thought 2 birds - 1 stone!   I'll keep it simple and just give them notice without linking to works at the house.  **I just remembered - do I have to give 6 months notice because of Covid??
