I own a single level, ground floor flat, in London, which is in an old Victorian house that has 1 other flat on the 1st floor. I'm going to rent my flat soon and I believe I need a smoke detector in the hall, a heat detector in the kitchen and a carbon monoxide detector near the boiler. Are there any legal requirements for any of these detectors to be interconnected or can they just be standalone? Thanks in advance for any help!

As far as I know there is no legal need for them to be connected, though I believe it is considered preferable.

I believe there's also a subtle difference now between interconnected and hardwired, with wireless networking features being all the rage. Those devices are also interconnected, via the power of imagination.
