Hi - can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative to British Gas Homecare 200 which includes servicing, repairs and a CP 12. It is costing me over £300 per year! Thanks

Not recommend but homeserve offer a service.  Or get the £300, stick it in an account each year and see if you need to use it?

Your perspective is that it's costing you. But is it saving you any time and worry? If so, how much is that worth to you? We all know that cheapest is not necessarily best. If you put the £300 in an account until you need it, that will be a short time as you'll still need to organise your GSC, right?

Ask British Gas if they have a better deal for you.  My deal is marginally better at £24 per month for annual service, callout by the tenants and a landlord certificate.
This cost is offset against your tax so possibly costs you nothing at the end of the year dependent on other factors of course.

Many thanks. Think I will give BG a call. I am paying £335 for one property and £364 for another which is paid by monthly direct debit. I do have peace of mind which I value but just wondered if I could get the same cover a bit cheaper from another company.  Feel a bit hacked off with them actually as last year they serviced the boilers and sent me a quote for power flushes. I got someone else to do for it for far less but he only did one as he found it hadn't needed it. Just a money making exercise for British Gas so I feel exploited by them.

I think AA do an alternative

You can get it cheaper, but pay a £50 or £100 excess on each call out.

I use BG & Homeserve.

Both are okay, overall I prefer BG as they only use there own engineers, but they do let you down on service visits if they get emergency calls come in, which is annoying.
