Hi i have tenant who's tenancy is expired & not leaving the property & stll owed me 2 months rent but they agreed to move out & i would keep the deposit. They have promised to move out on the day. I have signed a moving out agreement with the tenants aswell just to cover my back. Tenants not moved out of the property. Can i change locks on the property when they are out of the property?

Once the tenants have vacated you can change the locks.

Not when they pop to the shops, surely? You can't hide in the bushes, with a Locksmith, waiting for an opportune moment...

You're right, I misread.

I thought the OP was talking about changing the locks once the tenants have vacated and returned keys.

But no the landlord cannot change the locks if the tenants are out.  Have to go through an eviction process for that.
