Self contained area in house to let OR let a room? Which is most lucrative?

Hello

We are lucky enough to have a large farmhouse and would like to get a tenant.  We can afford to give up two rooms so here are our options:

Option 1: Let two adjoining rooms - one as bedroom and one as living area with en-suite and kitchen area, pretty much self contained other than sharing a vestibule with us.

Option 2: Let one large room with en suite and share of our kitchen.

Option 2 is attractive as we can take advantage of the govt 'room to let' scheme, but option 1 is preferable as don't have to share any living space with tenant.  However, how does tax work with option 1 - what are the rates like?  And bear in mind we live in Scotland!  I have heard that option 1 may also mean that we would be classed as a multi-occupied property and, as such, any tenant may have to pay council tax?

If anyone could tell me what they would do in my position, that would be really helpful.

Thanks for any advice at all.

Forget the money. Do you want to live in somebody elses kitchen. Constantly asking your other half if it was them that ate the food you had saved for lunch. Did they leave the jam handprint on the fridge?
Somebody using your dishcloth to clean their shoes then putting it back in the sink
Its no fun having to leave your tea to go cold whilst you clean up because you will not being able to leave something out on the side because you have to think of the other person.
