Hi, has anybody produced or know of any guide for filling in a tax return?
I only have a small property that i rent out. Can't believe it can be that difficult to do myself ? Rather than pay an account to do ?
Looked at the official help on HRMC , and it's still hard to understand

What is it you don't understand?

The hardest part is logging in to the HMRC site, what with the Government Gateway, posted secret numbers and all that malarky. Once in, it should be simple, it basically asks you the questions it needs to and you answer them. The alternative, of course, is to employ an Accountant. HMRC do not need to force you into doing self assessment, though, you can phone them and ask them if they're happy arranging it all via PAYE - I did that when I started out.
