I went into Halifax today, just to cash a cheque. I was looking at the ISA account details on a leaflet. Their current rate is 5.75%. Has anyone got an ISA account?

I don't know whether to open one, or just open a high interest websaver account.

Has anyone got an ISA account?

I've got one with the Yorkshire Building Society. Think the rate is 6 or 6.25 ... don't have much in there at the moment, but I'm impressed that they've put the rate up in line with base rate changes rather than just letting people leave like most other banks seem to.

Found it via Motley Fool rankings.

That's a pretty decent rate.

So, if I open an account with Halifax at 5.75%, and then later on they offer a new ISA with a 6% rate, will my account also increase to 6%?

Is that how it works?

vwilson

Depends if Halifax work the same way as Yorkshire ;) Its down to the discretion of the bank, as ever.

I think i'll do a little surfing around and find the best websaver and ISA deals!
