Hi, I am planning on moving to the UK from Jersey soon and will sell my properties over here before setting up in the UK.  Does anyone know if I will be liable to pay any UK CGT during this move?  Jersey does not charge CGT on property sales by the way.  I have heard a rumour that I may fall foul of UK CGT depending on when during the UK tax year I land in the UK.  It seems odd to me that the UK could charge this if I am moving over with nothing but capital.  My intention is to use that capital to set up Buy to Lets with a view to semi retiring.
