Gordon Bennett!

I went and bought a nice expensive shade from Habitat that perfectly matches my new lounge colourscheme, have literally just this moment gone to fit it, and discovered the fitting on the shade is far too big for the pendant!

It looks like its supposed to be a lampshade, not a pendant shade, although frankly I've never seem a lamp with a large enough fitting to match it either!

Any ideas? Is this a standard issue? Solutions? Comiserations? Bacardi in small bottles to this PO number ...?

Update: Looks like the Habitat (and Ikea) shades use a european standard fitting, while a standard UK lamp (or pendant) uses a "BC" fitting. Which increases the chances I'll be able to lay my hands on some converting gizmo (this must be a frequent problem) if only I can find it.

Update 2: These look like they may fit the bill: http://www.thelightingsuperstore.co.uk/product.asp?productid=34518 ... amazingly it was tough finding them, have written to their sales team to find out if this will solve the problem!

Hmm odd, you'd think they would have standard fittings for the UK throughout all the major stores, unless you order a European fitting especially.

lol@Gordon Bennett! Not heard that in a while :)

Hehe, I like to entertain!

Response from that lighting shop is that the fitting will solve the problem, but they want to charge me £6.50 to post a 40mm accessory within the UK, so am currently shopping around for an alternative supplier.
