I'm getting increasingly frustrated by a lot of door companies with websites- because none of them have any prices!! I assume they don't have prices because they like to haggle, but for a consumer that's annoying!

I want to buy a new front door, painted, fitted...etc. I'm told they're quite expensive, but does anyone have a ball park figure, for something like this:

Any ideas?

Go to a scrap yard, get a fantastic old fab looking door, get it dipped and puttied and there you go son,  May cost a little more, but the quality is second to none xx

Other than that, B&Q son

Nah I wouldnt go to a scrapyard if I where you really.
But yes, B&Q are good or Wickes, plus they also can give you a list of people that can fit it in your area.

You know i'm sure if you have an old person, they get 10% off... just for being old !
I got my grandad to go in about a year ago to buy me some laminate flooring... and I saved quite abit.  ;D

What? You can haggle in places like B&Q? Might haggle next time I go into Tescos then!

Badger

Hey Hey Hey,

Hold on just there, B and Q please, you want to go for an old well made door that is solid and has some personality about it, a scrap yard is the place to go.  My god you people dont you know anything xx

Fionalouisa

Oh yeh, I'd 100% go to a scrapyard if I was looking to get a new door. Its much nicer to get a lovely old door and paint it yourself instead of these crappy upvc doors that EVERYONE and i mean everyone has.
But for a BTL is there much point. Unless the nice-ness of the door matches the interior.

Ended up buying a wooden one, and getting it installed for £300.
No idea if I got a good deal or not ha! But I didn't have time to mess around =/

Badger

LOL, well done son, the main thing is are you pleased with the dam thing,
It open and it closes and it keeps people in and out, job done

there are a large number of companies selling doors and good hardwood front door would be about £120 and fitting is no more than £80 for what you paid for fitting i had a double glazed supplied and fitted.
