Ok i used to hate looking around getting quotes for a plumber, sparky, tiler, plasterer etc.  I just knew that half the time i was getting ripped off big time, but i had to pay the price,  We have all been there.

For 4 years now i have not used anyone except my little team that i have got up together.  I trust these guys and they do what they say they are going to do and for the price and they meet the dead lines always.  They are cheaper than the rest and there work is top class.  I have never had any problem with any of them.
I was lucky to find them really, a family moved in next door.  And the chap worked for the council, iI didnt think much o fit, One day he turned up in a council works van, when i talked to him about his work etc he said he was a sparky for the council and did private work at weekends and evenings etc.  My eyes lit up as i know these guys are trained to a high standard and the ones who work at weekends do it for pocket money.
So as it happens i now have a small troop on tap of every trade you could emagine and i have been very pleased with every one of them.
So my TIP is, if you know anyone who is conected to the council see if they know anyone in a trade who does private work also.
Be nice to them though, as they dont have to do it !!!!!.
I also found out that council tradesmen all work for each other in there spare time doing up each others propertys, and some of them have a sting of investments to go along with it.

Yeah, I have a good group of worksman as well.

My best friend is a really good carpenter/builder, and my accountant's husband is my gas man/plumber. We have a family friend that's been an electrician for years.

There are so many cowboys out there, you just don't know who you're dealing with.

That's a damn good tip Badg ... will be looking for some tradesmen very soon and found some links on the Channel 4 website but it is a bit of a case of pot-luck really. I'll see if I can worm my way into the council network somehow!!
