Legal issue about being a lodger

Hello,

I have a 'lodgers agreement' between myself and the homeowners. They do not live in the house but their daughter does. She pays rent, as do I and there are no written or verbal agreements between me and the daughter. I pay the rent directly to the homeowners.

Am I really a 'lodger'in this instance or a tenant? The homeowners have not protected my deposit and claim they did not need to as I am a lodger because I'm living with a family member and have shared access to facilities. But my contract is not with the daughter! Am I a lodger or a tenant?!

Thanks in advance for any help!

From the information you have made available it seems to me that you are tenant of the parents.
