Hi all.
My tenancy was supposed (as contract) to be for 6 months.
Now it is ended and so I went to the agency to leave the room's key but they
Said that I have to pay another month because I haven't given them 1 month notice.
Now, if my contact was for 6 months (ended) and I haven't asked them to extend it, are they right ?
Thank you
C.t.

What are the exact dates?

If the tenancy was supposed to end on, say, 29 July and you walked in to their office on 29 July to walk away then you'll be in the right... it's not exactly exemplary behaviour as you didn't keep people aware of things and that's just nice to do, but you can bring the tenancy to an end on the last day without providing notice. No notice is required. The tenancy ends.

However, if you went in on the 30th it would be a different ball game... a periodic tenancy will have auto-arisen at that point.

Ok I may know why they're acting like that.
My tenancy was supposed to end the 28th July (as contract).
3 months ago I sent them an email asking if I could pay the 2nd of the month instead of the 28th, they said yes so i paid the difference and from that moment i paid every 2nd (I've got these emails).
The last payment I made I written in the reference "till 02/08/19".
Maybe they thought that my tenancy was ended the 28th and renewed it as I didn't brought them the key.
Do you think that al the emails and the last payment will be enough as evidence ?

Tell them you don't have to give them any notice because the contract lapsed on 2nd, and demand the return of your deposit.  They might cave in.

Strictly speaking, if you didn't move out on the date stated in the contract, then they don't have to but they may decide it isn't worth fighting.
