Hi,
I am currently privately renting a property and am moving out next week. Due to this I am putting everything right as far as needed, in the hope that I will receive a substantial amount of my deposit back, (which is £995).
I just need some advice as to where I stand on trimming back ivy that was long established before I moved in, and could do with a bit of neatening up. The ivy reaches the roof, and would have to be professionally cut back at this point.
If I did not pay for the ivy to be dealt with, could the cost be taken out of my deposit?
The ivy is not specified in my tenancy agreement, however I am concerned that it could be labelled under 'garden maintenance', and if so would rather do this myself than risk the job being more expensive through my deposit.

What are people's thoughts?

Thanks very much,
