Hi Folks,

Looking for some help here, My Fiance and I moved into a short assured tenancy in the beginning of March, (6months), our personal circumstances have drastically changed and can no longer afford £500 per month, we have had some problems with the tenancy and the landlord which we could probably use to our advantage, but is there any way we can leave/end our agreement early. Also we have been issued a notice to quit, which the landlord is now reneging on....

Please help :/

Jeremy

Hello StuckInaRut,

Legally speaking both you and your landlord are sommitted to the minimum six month rental period.  You could terminate by mutual consent only.  Unless the landlord has kept the propety in such a poor condition the contract could be considered voidable.  So I would probably consider what bargaining levers you have.  Hope this helps.
