I wanted to know if there is any negative effects on having on your name 2 tenancy agreements?
Does it affects your tax or anything?

just learned that my friends who i was leaving in a flat havent removed our names from the contacts as we agreed to and im slightly worried.

Potentially.  Are you liable for the rent on the previous flat?

No the rent is being paid normally, i just wanted to know tax wise or in general if somehow this affects me negatively.

Potentially, yes, this could well affect you negatively.  It depends on what the tenancy agreement says.

Most tenancy agreements that involve several people ("joint tenancies") say that the people who've signed the agreement (sometimes called "parties") are all equally responsible for paying the rent (sometimes called "liable" for the rent).  It might say this in technical legal language instead of plain English.  Look through the tenancy agreement for words like "jointly and severally" -- that'll usually be the clause you need.

If the parties are jointly and severally liable then that means that if the people who still live at the property don't pay, the landlord can hold you responsible instead.

You might also be on the hook for the Council Tax or any unpaid utility bills.  In the worst case this can lead to bailiffs knocking on your door.

Best to take your name off it.  If your landlord is a reasonable human being then just talk to them.  If they're buggers, then it's probably worth a trip to the Citizens Advice Bureau to ask them to help you draft a piece of paper called a Surrender of Tenancy.
