I like property

Long story short, we moved into a property managed by a letting agency in 15th May 2019. Our circumstances changed in the August month and we have given notice to end our tenancy early and offered a few solutions for them to end it early. We came into agreement that we will pay for the property, re-advertise until a new tenant was found. (Only 2 months left).

Skip to a month and so later and a new tenant applied for the property. Last Friday they told us that we need to finish the cleaning and get the property ready for the closing inventory as they want the new tenants to move in on the 11th of October earliest or 18th latest and we were more than happy to oblige. We worked hard for the short notice as they only gave us the weekend to do this and drop the keys to them which was about 15 miles away! Anyway we dropped it to their office on the Sunday. On the Tuesday gone we receive an email about the closing inventory and we worked with them about it and they agreed to give us our deposit back. Now Thursday closing hours we receive another email from another staff saying that the new tenants have now pulled out and we are responsible to pay for the rent for the upcoming month until the 14th November.

My husband and I want to know what our rights are, we haven given over the keys and they have done the closing inventory and have even emailed me to say they have taken a deposit from the new tenants. Clearly all this state is that they have ended our tenancy agreement early already right? 🤦

We are not happy bunnies! We have 2 young kids and the only time we had to spend together was last Saturday which we spent cleaning ALL day.... 😭 *Rant over*

Can anyone enlighten me please? 🤪😂

I don't think you can protest about this.I have had tenants leave early, and continue paying rent until  new tenants signed the lease. It is not the landlord's fault that you wanted to leave so quickly. You are getting your deposit back, and obviously you would be expected to leave the place clean.I don't know why you are feeling aggrieved?

This was the agreement you reached. The property hasn't been let to a new Tenant. It's all quite clear. Everyone has stuck to what was agreed.
