I hope someone can help me....please....


I rented a house in November 2013 gave my landlord £850 deposit which was secured with DPS and also paid 6 months rent in advance, by January 2014 my son became very ill...with my landlords agreement they released me early from my tenenacy and I moved out in February 2014.

She sent me the check out inventory and charged me (overcharged for certain things) over £400 in dilapitations which I am going to dispute.  Charging me £40 for window cleaning when the chap who did them for her quoted me £25!!!

She is refusing to return my refund of advance rent amounting to over £1460 until I sign the dilapitation form.

Can I ask to see all receipts for work carried out seeing as she wants to charge me for them??

Can she do this???

I have emailed her stating the rent and deposit are two separate matters but she just replies sign the form and I will release your money

So which one are you, tenant or Landlord??

Posting as both is very annoying, and does little to infuse sympathy!

Anyway, I don't think she's being fair, but why not just sign the form and move on, you have as it is been let off of a legal tenancy, and now your moaning about £15 extra on the windows??

I think you need to be grateful, get some perspective, and move on....... ( Oh and check out meds for the Schizophrenia) :-)

Just wanted input from both sides...

Not just the windows....charging me compensation for all sorts when she hasn't had the work done, thats all!!!

Hmmm, You been let off £2550 of obligation to pay rent.....


As I said, count your blessings, sign the form, move on......

Have you considered in any way the additional costs that you have given the landlord for no fault of there's ??

No... thought not.....

Oh and the windows?? from £25 to £40, I can tell you why, they did inside as well....... now if I know that, and believe it to be accurate and reasonable, why shouldn't you??

Excuse me, get off your high horse.

I know they were kind in letting me off...son into hospital long term!!  I paid re-advertising costs etc.....

As for the window cleaner, the same bloke quoted me £25.00 for inside and out........

Get yourself a dictionary as "their" is not spelt "there"

I also know that being under pressure with Ill family members is tough.

So, please, just take the advice that YOU asked for, leave it.

That is my advice, it's your choice at the end of the day, you did ask.
