Hello, guys. I want to rent a shop and I want it for long term. Landlord sent me a lease with no finish date and told me I can stay as long as I want and I don't have to register the lease. Is this true? Can he ask me to leave anytime he wants with a lease like that? Thanks in advance.

A lease like what? Does he own the freehold? I am not sure what you mean by register the lease,do you mean with the council for taxes?

The lease doesn't state when the term ends. I think register here means register to Land Registry for lease longer than 7 years. I am not sure if he owns it freehold.

I once had a shop,on an assigned lease which I had to buy.The remaining time was around 20-odd years,but there was no question that the ownership remained with the freeholder re.Land Registry.That was back a long time though. This all sounds a bit dodgy to me.Is it a lock-up or will you live over it?  I would not feel secure with this arrangement.You need to ask him more questions.
