Hi everyone,

I might have a problem in that the agency that I rent my flat from have been trying to sell it (on behalf of the landlord).

I have a 12 month tenancy agreement that runs out in September so am safe til then.

However, I want to renew the contact and live in the flat for another 12 months.

Do I have any rights as a tenant to stay in the property and make the new landlord to rent it to me?

cheers for any help you can give :)

No rights to make the new Landlord let it to you. However, you do not have to leave until served a valid Section 21, and beyond even. However, if the property is to be sold to another Landlord and you are a good, paying, Tenant then I'd expect that new Landlord to want to maintain the status quo.

I agree that if the landlord is selling on and the new owner wants to rent to you thats great, but is that the case? however once a section 21 has been issued and your being evicted estate agents will have that on record that you where evicted especially when they ask for previous landlords details as a reference so if you can avoid being evicted thats probably the best advise
if you have paid your rent on time and are intitled to your full deposit back then ask your agency if they have another property in the same area at the same price or alternativly find another agent and rent a new home...so 1.st check to see if the new owner wants to buy to let  2nd ask when they want to reposes the house..3rd try and negotiate with your agent and see if they have anything else to offer you.....
