Hi everyone.

Just wondering if it's a normal occurrence to pay for rent in cash? When my partner moved in, I joined a couple of months ago, she was told that they take cash at first to visit the property etc and after that the rent is paid by BACS.

We have never paid by BACs and we've mentioned it in passing the last couple of times he has come to collect the rent and he says 'he'll sort it out' and never does. Just to mention, his communicate is very poor and doesn't usually answer back to messages or phone calls.

I've spoken to a couple of people and they've all said how strange and unusual that is.

Is this strange?

Would like to know thoughts and experiences from tenants and landlords.

Thank you.

No,this is not usual. It makes me wonder if anything else is dodgy.Do you get receipts or a rent book for example? What became of the deposit,is it protected?

what proof do you have, that you paid the rent!!
I believe if you pay cash you should have a rent book?
maybe your landlord is just pocketing the money and not telling tax man
if you paid a deposit  has it been put in a government approved scheme
