I will be vacating my central London flat in July, on expiry of the leasing contract.  Kindly advise if I need to take any specific steps before vacating the property, in order to make sure that I get back the full deposit amount.  Also, I have received Thames water bill for one year, starting April 2014.  How do I make payment for the remaining 4 months?  Thanks for the help.

The LL will be able to deduct money for any damages that they can prove are more than just normal wear and tear. Your LL should have completed an inventory usually with the tenant to sign on moving in, the same should happen on moving out.
Your deposit should be protected by a deposit protection scheme so any disputes can be agreed through them.

As for your water bill just take a water meter reading on the day you move - send this to the water company for your final bill for the remaining 4 months to be calculated, remember to provide them with your new address.
