I wasn't sure where to post this or whether it was allowed..., here goes.

I find myself in a position where I need to find a place to live.  Being the handy man that I am I would like to move into a property that requires work.

No,  i'm not mad, infact I have done this before. A few years back I was in a similar situation and I was approached by a landlord who wanted me to rent a room in a house to keep it from being squatted or vandalised.  I went to view the property and as it turned out, the place was in need of quite a bit of work.  As I had much experience with property repairs and maintenance etc... I struck a deal with the Landlord whereby I  would live in the property for free as I carried the work out on it.  This went very well and the landlord was very pleased with the finished product.

By the time the work was complete (just one man on the job, me with exception of the plumbing and electrical works which I project managed.) the whole house was transformed and the landlord was able to re let the rooms to  tenants again after having little luck renting due to previous condition. 

I'm looking to do the same again, though it would seem not many people advertise that they would go for this as a way to get their property sorted. I'm on the look out for anyone who needs this kind of help or anyone who can suggest where to begin looking for people that might want my help in this way. Any Ideas welcome !
