Had a problematic landlord too involved for comfort (we are students and all left June, but he would go into the property without telling us even though we still paid bills and when we booked a cleaning company, rang them up to find out what we had organised and then complained to us we hadn't booked a thorough enough job!) who had now crossed my temper line!!

4 housemates and I paid about £300 total for a deep clean of the whole place. I live close-ish (within 45 mins) so went to let them in and do a final run-through to make sure they got the water stain we'd left in the lounge and grubby corners. Left and came back when they'd finished, thought they'd done a perfect job. Had a text from my landlord earlier to say they'd stopped by the house during the clean (without telling us) and spoken to the cleaners; they'd seen two "stains" (both about the size of a 1p and only a little darkening as I think they were just mustard on cream carpets so not super noticeable anyway!) in my bedroom and paid the cleaners £65 out of their own pockets to get it cleaned, but now they're saying it will come out of our deposit! My mum is wanting me to dispute as they should have notified us both about being in the property, but also because they shouldn't have paid without giving us opportunity to clean it ourselves because we still pay the rent until tomorrow! Should we dispute?
