Do I need to pay for this?

Hi all.

We decided to get Sky. As we are renting a converted attic, we can't use the dishes at the back of the property. The Sky Engineer said we would need a dish at the front of the property, which means there needs to be a small hole from the roof for the cable/dish. He said it's a small job.

We've had some trouble with our landlord (we don't have our own gas supply, pay in cash, currently no front door, any problems the landlord is slow to respond, etc).

The landlord said it's fine but we would have to pay for this to be done. I don't trust my landlord anymore so looking to find answers on this.

Thank you

Hippogriff

Sky Engineers have drills, don't they? The ones I've met certainly do. They have big drills, lots of cables, little plastic cover things. Looks like you're settling-in to this terrible property.

Looking at all the issues and concerns you have,it begs the question-why don't you both hand in your notice? Did you follow the earlier advice and check the deposit has been protected,or pass on the details to Inland Revenue.I have never had a tenant expect me to pay for the Sky installation, why on earth should I?

To be fair to the OP, they did not say they expected the Landlord to pay... just seeking clarity. I think any reasonable person would agree Sky isn't some kind of Human Right in a rented property.

Thank you for your answers. Like Hippogriff said, just seeking clarify as landlord is making me suspicious by the second.
