I've mentioned it before several times here, how we're interested in purchasing property in around Dubai / Qattar.

Obviously nothing can be done without going and checking out properties on location, so I think we'll make that happen in the summer.

Any tips or advice you guys might want to share?

Have you guys or do you know of anyone, ever invested abroad?

You need to sort your finances (mortgage) out in Switz. Have you done any research on that?

You need great local english speaking legal aid in the country you want to purchase in, this would be my first port of call. i would ask for referances and all kinds of bindings from him/her, after all these people will be handling all your cash etc etc.
Once this was in place i would feel confident in pursuing the property.
Its all about the home work research and having a trust worthy team all reading from the same book.

I think Dubai is still a good market, I have friends who work out there and they tell me demand for residential and commercial is still strong, so a good letting market for you. If your buying a re-sale these go quickly so have money in place if you see something you like- if buying off-plan and the quote 2 years it will be 4 years. Definitely on m list of places I would like to visit

i've spoken with a friend down in Dubai, and she said real estate is still booming there. However it's gotten very expensive and she's not sure whether the reccession in the US will affect real estate there or not in the comming years, but she insists it's definitely worth looking into. She's given me a contact I can discuss further details with, so let's see what happens. She definitely insists I've got to visit and check out the market first hand because there are 'bad areas', not sure what she was referring to but oh well.

So yeh, i''ll keep you lot updated.

thanks for all the advice. :)
