1) Inheritance Tax threshold rises to £600,000 for spouses and civil partners. What isn't clear is whether this does, in fact, represent a change from what was already possible with the help of a decent accountant. If there's a decent accountant reading... your comments would be very welcome.

2) proposals to encourage mortgage lenders to offer longer-term fixed-rate mortgages.

3) more homebuilding.

4) VAT reductions and other incentives to improve poor-quality housing and revitalise and fill empty homes.

I would imagine if your accountant is that good you wouldn't pay any inheritance tax.

Unfortunately its a few years too late for my grandmother's estate. The government will be doing very nicely out of my grandfathers life work.

I've told my parents to transfer everything over to my name before they die! How nice of me!

vwilson

One of my relatives did that. Skanked his brother and sister out of their inheritance.

Think I'll be leaving all of mine to a cat's home.
