Hello,

I've recently packed in my job as I got bored of the 9-5 thing, and am now exploring new avenues of making money whilst have a nice balanced lifestyle to go with it.

I've been reading a lot recently about the house market crash in the States, so I was wondering if people think now is a good idea to buy there. I'm thinking of a nice pad that can be rented out to families for holidays, and which I could live in/use a little bit in the off seasons?

Florida sounds like a good family market, and the weather is good all year round (OK, when there aren't hurricanes it's pretty good) so there should be a good period of being able to rent it out right? I also hear the California market has dropped quite a bit too, and Cali has a lot of nice national parks and attractions for tourists. Does anyone think this is a good idea and a good time to invest?

Thanks

Badger

Hi Pjones and welcome,
I have only heard good stories about buying in a rentable part of the US.  Would be something i would think about one day maybe.
Its just bugs me that your place could be trashed, i would ask for a big old deposit just in case.

hey buddy, i was living in south carolina for five years until like four months ago. The housing market was really bad. Many of my friends suffered GREAT loss because of it! However while reading your post the only reccommendation I was going to give you was to invest in Florida... which you eventually came to mentioning yourself. Yes hurricanes are a big deal there, however you've got many plus points aswell such as great attractions... disney world, fun night life, great beaches etc.

You should definitely talk to a real estate agent and get further accurate details from them :)

Best of luck buddy...
